   We had an excellent lunch at The White Oak. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was splendid, with compliments to the chef. In view of this, it seems churlish to flag the following. Hopefully, the comments will prove helpful to the management. 1) why does The White Oak charge the full £27 for the two course set lunch, when those items chosen do not meet this £27 threshold? In short, we are paying over and above the menu prices, if itemised separately. b) why no calories shown on the menu? We had thought this to be a legal requirement. c) why no main course salad(s) on the menu? There were a selection under the previous management, and not everyone wants to eat a "heavy" meal at lunchtime! Do please consider a salad(s) option. Despite our quibbles, we would happily come again, though the seating pods in the garden are something of an eyesore and the area was so much nicer without them!!

   Paid a lot for a poor meal. The staff were lovely but the service was very slow and the restaurant was quite. We have had the same meals at the Green Oak before, and they were much better, so we'll continue going there rather.

   We used to come here regularly for special occasions. After the change of ownership we decided to give it a try. In Sept the mains were fine, but the ice cream, was a complete let down being a mass produced product. Yesterday we decided to give the White Oak a further chance. Once again mains were fine, although my daughter’s beef burger had cheap (plastic) cheese in it. It was the desert in this case a tiramisu which let the side down, containing next to no coffee. The impression is gained that where corners can be skimped they are being, however the prices remain resolutely high.

   We had the trout, mussels and home made pie…all were very nice. Very reasonable wine list and lovely garden

   Superb Sunday roast. We had roast beef. All veg and Yorkshire pudding was excellent and choice of refill was well received. Would happily recommend.

   Have been looking forward to eating at the white oak for some time so booked a table well in advance. We arrived 15mins early so got a drink and my booking was confirmed so we waited and then when ready I was told the table wasn’t ready so 20mins later still no one came so again went and looked for someone and finally we went to the table no apologies for the wait or lack of updates we where given the menu and specials list so I chose the pork and my partner the lamb but was told the lamb had just finished by the table in front had just ordered the last one which would not had happened if we had our table at the time booked.we did enjoy the food we had very good and plenty but we felt let down by the service as after we finished took ages before anyone came to us to clear the table and offer us deserts such a shame as the pub is fantastic but I booked it for our anniversary and felt I had let my partner down but she did enjoy her food.

   Had a great Easter Sunday lunch at The White Oak. Service, food and experience were fantastic. The team actually forgot our starters completely - these things happen. But they dealt with it promptly. Travis, our server was brilliant. Highly recommended and we will be back.

   The roast beef was excellent; moist and cooked perfectly for my tastes (medium). The accompanying vegetables were also delicious and well presented in side dishes.
