A focus on the incredible wines from Tenute Orestiadi, Sicily. A young company that vinifies the best grapes grown on the island: from the Belìce Valley to the slopes of Mount Etna with the aim of tracing routes that unite the people of the Mediterranean. Known as the crossroads of the Mediterranean and with influences from Italy and Spain but also Arabia and Africa, Sicilian cuisine is a veritable melting pot of flavour. Guests are invited to arrive from 6:30pm for a 7pm start. Due to the group nature of the evening we are unfortunately unable to delay proceedings for late arrivals. Sunday roast was nice, but one of my kids ordered sausages with mashed potatoes and those were not edible, tasted wrong - when we told them about it, all they did is report it to the kitchen (glad cause I wouldn’t want any kid eating that). My other kid ordered a burger with an extra patty and we were charged double for it. The tiramisu was nothing like a tiramisu but more like a cheese cake served on a cup. When we saw the bill we mentioned some of the above and the reply was very dismissive and full of contempt It left a very disappointing impression on Father’s Day. So not planning to go back any time soon, despite being regular customers of this pub for more than a decade.

Our enduring memory is the extortionate price of a glass of wine (Should have checked the prices before ordering, of course)

Fantastic roast cannot fault, could give more pigs in blankets when requesting. Great service only issue was really loud group seated next to us kept getting up and going in and out and screaming laughing and opening fire exit doors, apart from this was great service. Bit on the more expensive side, should be a cheaper option for kids.

We had an excellent lunch at The White Oak. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was splendid, with compliments to the chef. In view of this, it seems churlish to flag the following. Hopefully, the comments will prove helpful to the management. 1) why does The White Oak charge the full £27 for the two course set lunch, when those items chosen do not meet this £27 threshold? In short, we are paying over and above the menu prices, if itemised separately. b) why no calories shown on the menu? We had thought this to be a legal requirement. c) why no main course salad(s) on the menu? There were a selection under the previous management, and not everyone wants to eat a "heavy" meal at lunchtime! Do please consider a salad(s) option. Despite our quibbles, we would happily come again, though the seating pods in the garden are something of an eyesore and the area was so much nicer without them!!

Paid a lot for a poor meal. The staff were lovely but the service was very slow and the restaurant was quite. We have had the same meals at the Green Oak before, and they were much better, so we'll continue going there rather.
