   Try to book table over the phone and l was told the restaurant was full today and we can’t book. I have booked table online no problem and it was possible to book anytime. We arrived 15min late due to accident just next to the restaurant so we phoned restaurant and let them know. When we arrived the manager at the desk was making comments about as being late even though we have phoned and the restaurant looked empty so don’t understand why we were not able to book over the phone. The waiter was very polite and very attentive, pizza was good but disappointed with the booking issue and the table, we always get the same table in the corner just in the front of the pizza oven, which is a bit annoying now.

   First time visiting here. As friends recommended it. The food and atmosphere was lovely. Cant wait to come back

   Firstly, we enjoyed our meal at the Woodmans arms, the food was excellent and the venue is welcoming. Improvements could be made with the hygiene and cleanliness of the dining area. Our table had squashed food underneath and the surface had not been cleaned from previous diners as it was sticky and grimey. In addition, and just to reiterate the food was excellent, but our main and only food we ordered (chateaubriand) took over 40 minutes to arrive. We didn't order starters so we were left waiting when many other diners had received their meals before us. The offer of bread or some other canape would have been a nice touch. At the end of the day, we enjoyed our visit and we will return. But in the spirit of openness, and after spending near on £100 on a meal (including drinks), we feel we could have had a better experience for our 20th anniversary meal, which we informed the restaurant about through the open table app, due to the cleanliness of the dining room and the long wait for our food.

   First of all I would just like to say that I have been to the woodsmans arms on numerous occasions and the food has always been good, today we went for the Christmas menu , we all had the bloody Mary prawn cocktail, we were so dissapointed with everything the taste was non existence and it was very small to say the least hardly any sauce to. We all went for the turkey dinner which was very tasty but wasn't a lot of it on the plate . Very disappointed with starter and portion size. Service was good and ambience was lovely .

   We have always gone to the Woodmans Arms for their Christmas menu and have never been disappointed in the past. We took our friends on the 11 December and we were so disappointed with the prawn cocktail starters and traditional turkey dinner. The sprouts we had were hard and we got one slice of carrot and one slice of parsnip. We also had to ask for more gravy. The turkey was stuffed which was OK but again we didn't get much. The roast potatoes were OK. The desserts were nice. I had the crumble and the rest of our party had the Christmas pudding. We paid £154.00 for an average meal. We have always enjoyed our Christmas meal at the Woodmans and it has become a tradition for me and my husband. This is the first time we have been disappointed 😞

   We tried this place after seeing a review online and it looked great ,the starter was amazing Camembert in a sour dough loaf ,the mains were average I had a burger which while it was tasty and cooked well just wasn’t as good as some others for the price ,my partner had the pepperoni pizza which was also tasty ,we had 2 pints of made and 1 Pepsi the bill came to £78 which we feel was a bit on the high side ,but wouldn’t stop us returning in the future

   The waiter who took our drinks order was very curt and definitely not welcoming. He merged on snappy with my mam when she asked for diet coke and he snapped Pepsi max- when she asked if that was due he snapped again yes Pepsi max. We didn't receive our prosecco between coursed as advertised. The restaurant was freezing and was so quiet lacking ambience, it felt like a library and that everyone was listening to our conversation. The starters were OK, but our main courses were cold and dried out, clearly reheated but not very well as it was luke warm at best. We weren't asked if we would like any more drinks in between courses and had to wait a while before anyone came to take our plates and do I could ask for the bill. The restaurant was empty and yet the service was none existent

    Food was fantastic, service was off the highest quality. Place was beautifully decorated for Christmas.. This place is a must if you live or visit the Newcastle upon Tyne. 5 star all round.
