Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Thirteen at the Philadelphia Marriott offers a mixed dining experience with notable highlights. "The service was exceptional" with a welcoming staff that enhances the visit. While some guests found the food "amazing" and praised the "delicious fries," others noted limited menu options and inconsistent meal quality. The restaurant's atmosphere can be crowded, affecting service efficiency, but the "awesome bartender" and standout dishes like the Chesapeake Benedict are memorable.

Our reservation was at 8:45am and we got there at 8:30. We were promptly seated and then we sat for 10 minutes until the same hostess that sat us came back and offered us coffee and water. It was not until another 15 minutes that the waitress came over to take our order. We never saw her again until it was time for the check, somebody else brought the food out. The total wait time for our food was close to an hour. The female manager just kept walking around, but did not assist to bring out any food for customers or to check on tables or to apologize for the wait. I was really upset that breakfast for three people was $54 without tip.

First of all the chiefs in the back do a good job and the ingredients are good. However, that's the last positive thing I have for this restaurant. The host with the dreadlocks is the most incompetent employee I've ever seen and should have been fired several times just while we were sitting there. He was befuddled by the reservation/waitlist software and didn't seem to have a clue how to actually do his job or what his job actually was (he might have been stoned out of his mind too). This causes absolute chaos in the front of house. Not to mention that once we were seated he actually spent 45 minutes talking to a single table instead of doing his job, and the shift manager talked to him but didn't really act like a manager. The "manager" seemed more like the only competent waitress in the place that was promoted because she was the only one that knew how to do any job in the place. The waitress we had was some combination of sad/angry/lazy. The ticket time on our meal was over 1.5 hours for nothing but two waters, one cocktail and three entrees. No appetizers or desserts. They were out of half the items we tried to order on the menu. Honestly if it was my restaurant I'd close the place for 1-2 weeks, fire everyone that was front of house or involved in ordering, and get people that actually know what they're doing. Half the tables were empty and people on the waitlist were giving up after over an hour of waiting because the idiot host honored only reservations and ignored the waitlist. It was embarrassing to watch just how badly this restaurant was run. This could have been a great hotel restaurant and instead it was a memorable but bad joke.

It was busy night and it was clear they were not staffed for the crowd. Our server was nice our food was not good, calamari was way too salty and our entrees were mixed. Scallops were ok, short ribs had no flavor. Definitely not worth the money.

Ate here twice and walked out once after waiting 30 minutes for someone to even acknowledge our presence. The staff they have is nice and try hard but they simply need more help and there doesn't appear to be any signs of management stepping in to assist them. Very disappointed especially in a Marriott establishment.

It was average, drinks were overpriced for their quality (I had a Makers Manhattan - they used bar cherry juice and charged me $16, over priced for the quality). The food was so-so.

We ordered the Thanksgiving Giving pre-fixed dinner. We were disappointed with the meal. The menu stated carrots, we had no carrots. The turkey was a bit dry and the meal overall was not that hot. The taste of the food was not bad though, the mashed potatoes in particular were quite good and the green bean casserole was a close second. The dessert, while it tasted good, the presentation was a lot to be desired. Our desserts were presented in to go containers when we were dining in the restaurant. The value for the food was not bad for a Thanksgiving meal, but the cocktails were overpriced to the max, $24 for 1 martini.

Menu Selection is very limited, and food not seasoned well. The service was very welcoming and pleasant which is why I gave an overall rating of 3 stars and not one star.
