Over the years I have traveled extensively throughout Italy in search of new ideas, recipes, and great wines to bring back to Three Tomatoes. The source of inspiration continues to be the simple, fresh, healthy and local foods of Trattoria style cooking. Eating in a Trattoria in Italy is like eating with an Italian family. The mood can be relaxed or boisterous, but always friendly. It is a home away from home and a gathering place for friends. I have tried to capture the warmth of the trattoria kitchen with its open fire, the aroma of simmering sauces, roasted meats, grilled fish and pizza baking in our custom built wood fired oven. Our newly revised wine list has been enhanced by selections of distinction and value inspired by attending Vinitaly, Slow Food's Terra Madre and visiting vineyards throughout Italy, Sicily and Sardinia. Three Tomatoes has captured some of the spirit that makes wine, food, and conviviality such an important part of trattoria life.

This was our third visit to The Three Tomatos. The first two times were fantastic. Last night was not very good My husband had Chicken Saltinbocca which was delicious. I had Eggplant Parmigiano. Well first of all the presentation was terrible. It looked like the sauce was all pushed forward like the dish was thrown together, the sauce was all piled up on one side, the Eggplant was horribly over cooked, dry and burned, as I was eating the pasta I saw too much water left in the plate, which means it wasn't drained properly. I should have sent it back but I chose not to. I hope this is not a sign of declining service

They were short several servers so the service was slower than we would have liked. However, the food was excellent as always.

The hostess and waiter were both friendly. The salmon pasta, however, was not great and needed flavor and seasoning. Two pasta dishes, one salad plus 2 drinks and tip came to $100 for a disappointing meal.

Full disclosure this was a dinner before a show at LOH. We always eat at Three Tomatoes before or after a show at LOH because they are so close to the venue. However, after our dinner on Saturday I may be looking at other options. We had a reservation for 6pm and were seated within minutes of our arrival. The restaurant was packed which is okay but what comes out of the kitchen matters! I ordered the mussels over pasta and they were so overcooked there was hardly anything left to them. They were shriveled up and were the size of nail on my pinky finger. The pasta was floating in a bath of liquid with no flavor. The salad and the bread were good and our server was doing the best he could with too many tables. I appreciate the fact the restaurant is trying to maximize profits and cramming more tables and diners into its space but the quality and taste of the food have deteriorated. I have spoken about this before in my previous reviews. Management needs to address this issue because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Upper Valley. Not any more I'm afraid.

Three Tomatoes has not changed it's menu in what seems like decades, and the preparation of the standards is good, not exceptional. When they are busy, which is always, especially before a show at LOH, they do not have enough servers. On this night, there was only one bartender, and the wait for my cocktail ( Martini) was unacceptable, and it arrived room temperature. Our server did the best that they could and was pleasant, but clearly taxed.

My party ate at Three Tomatoes the same night as an event at the Lebanon Opera House, so the place was pretty busy! Despite the hubbub, our server did her best to be attentive and to make sure we had everything that we wanted.

I had the duck special with risotto which was very good. The other meals ordered were also very good. Restaurant was packed as it is usually on a Saturday night so very noisy. I do frequent restaurant as prices are fair & food good.

We had heard so much about Three Tomatoes and was really looking forward to our reservation. They were very accommodating and atmosphere was nice. The services was fantastic and food came out quickly. The only issue we had was the food it didn’t live up to the expectations. Pasta didn’t seem that fresh and was cool and the chicken Parmesan was dry. We will give it another try but was disappointed with our visit.
