   For our first time at Toro, we chose Christmas early evening; that apparently was a mistake. They were out of numerous menu items (at 515pm) -- and ridiculously slow. Our server would disappear for extended periods, and seemed frustrated by what he attributed to the kitchen being 'backed up'. Service was sporadic at best. Our single appetizer (the tuna guacamole) arrived within reasonable time, but our entrees (though delicious) didn't arrive until one hour and 45 minutes after ordering -- this for a table of just two people! By that time, we were anxious to finish up and get out of there. There's no excuse for such mismanagement. I'm willing to give them a pass, being a holiday and just recently opened -- but only once more. Sure hope they can get their act together.

   Everything was great! Truly a special place that will become very popular very soon. They paid attention to every detail of this restaurant. Everything is really well designed with great style and great taste! The food is very unique and very very special as well absolutely delicious! The staff is incredibly friendly and professional. One of the best new restaurants in Chicago by far!

   Unremarkable Latin cuisine. Better food at lower prices at less heavily capitalized restaurants, including one or two nearby. Also, anyone notice this spot in the Fairmont might have a Siberia around a corner way in back by a banquet area and a service hallway? For people with kids, all female parties, elderly people inexpensively dressed, etc.? Ugh. 150 bucks for a snub?

   I went accompanied last night with my best friend to celebrate my birthday. We had an amazing time. The food was great, and our waitress had amazing reflexes as to catching a full drink that almost spilled all over me.  you have got to try La Bomba as a dessert. It was absolutely exquisite! It was amazing that the manager on site came out with my complementary churros and to wish me a happy birthday.

    14oz ribeye was perfection, but the creamy rice in the Lomo Saltado was salty. Hopefully they fix that for next time. I would highly recommend the Grilled Octopus and the Ceviche Amarillo.
