   Toscano is a jewel of the Harvard Square Community. Always warm and welcoming. Truly superb food with an extensive menu and outstanding daily specials. The cocktails are also perfectly executed and generous in size. Terrific wine list. Toscano has it all!

   We have been to Tosca several times and liked the restaurant. This time we had a very unprofessional waitress. Not only that she was quite pushy, she also questioned our gratuity. We were a party of four and split the bill. One party paid the 20% gratuity for the entire bill, while the other left it blank. The waitress came back to the table and rather aggressively questioned why one bill didn't have a gratuity. It was a very unpleasant and unprofessional behavior. We didn't confront the waitress for not stirring up any argument, however, we all felt that this was not OK.

   Toscano’s was very pleasant. The waitperson was very charming & efficient, and she kept an eye on us to be sure we had what we needed. Everyone was in the mood for pasta, & the 5 dishes the 5 of us ordered were different from each other & very tasty. We even had Italians among us. ‘Open Table’ made it easy to communicate & obtain a reservation with no muss, no fuss.

   We had an excellent meal with impeccable service. Shared the black truffle risotto for our starter - delicious taste and satisfying. I had the sole for my main: perfectly prepared with light lemon butter and capers. Husband had the crabmeat tagliatelle with cream sauce and red pepper. He said that it was like a cream based fra diavolo and delicious.

   A pleasant, upbeat setting -- perhaps a tad overrated but they still produce a good experience. The menu described the Branzino al Forno (Mediterranean Sea Bass Filets) as being covered with a white wine, rosemary, lemon, and garlic but it was served with a heavyish cream sauce that was, for me at least, far too rich and an unwelcome surprise. I would urge future diners to do their due diligence with questions about their orders. I'll go back but this visit seemed, well, for lack of a better way of describing more like Bertucci's than Toscana.
