Tucked behind El Barrio Cantina in Long Beach, Tokyo Noir is an intimate 25-seat speakeasy with a side-alley entrance and world-class cocktail program, co-concepted by restaurateur/founder Jesse Duron and acclaimed mixologist Kevin Lee. As the only certified Ice Master outside of Japan, Lee has created a cocktail menu at Tokyo Noir that will make it a destination for serious bar culture fans, who want to experience the art and craft of cocktailing. The beverages are complemented by a robust izakaya-style menu from Chef Ulises Alfaro-Piñeda, with craveable small plates that go beyond bar snack expectations. As a whole, this discreet speakeasy concept will surprise locals and impress the industry.

This is a hidden gym off an alley in retro row. Make a reservation and don't go as a walk up. It is an amazing experience! The music, the vibes, the drinks, the staff are all on point. Keep in mind once making a reservation be sure to get there on time and make sure your whole party is there because the clock starts ticking. You only get your seat for an hour and a half.

We made reservations for Tokyo Noir for a birthday date night and it did not disappoint. The bartenders were fun to watch; mastering their craft and making stylish and exotic drinks. The food was creative (corn dogs and wasabi fries) and delicious and the service and ambience were cultivated into a special, Japanese inspired experience.
I would suggest to anyone going on the weekend to Uber, as we spent 30 minutes looking for parking, but it was well worth it for this exciting experience.

It’s always fun to go through the mystery of finding a speakeasy. However, this place is waaaaaaaay more hype than justified.
Scored 11pm reservations a week prior for a Saturday night seating. Arrived at 10:50pm. We waited for nearly 20 minutes outside in the cold until they could seat us. Once seated, we ordered wasabi fries and grilled squid. Both came in about 10-15 minutes and were cold. Waited an additional 20 minutes for our cocktails.
For the price point of dishes ($9 each) and drinks ($17 and $22), this place blew the wallet but not our palettes.
Worth a try just to know. Don’t need to come by again.
