Translated from the Japanese word “home,” the original Uchi is located in a refurbished South Austin bungalow. Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole’s signature non-traditional take on Japanese food has delighted Austin’s diverse dining crowd as well as visitors from across the country and around the world since 2003. Reservations are encouraged and can be made up to 1 month in advance. Walk-in seating is limited to the Sushi Bar and is subject to wait times. Patio seating is weather permitting and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. We look forward to serving you, Kanpai!

    Whenever I go to Austin UCHI is always on the radar, it is the BEST SUSHI!!! Not to mention, the staff is so dialed, I just let them order for me and my guests and no one ever leaves without being extremely happy and impressed. THE BEST SUSHI EVER!!!!

    Amazing time celebrating my mother’s birthday. Uchi did a fantastic job making her feel special. Love love love the coconut pudding dessert. Would go back for just this 100%.

    Uchi is always a favorite. I took a friend from OOT and we ate our weight in sushi. She said it was hands down the best sushi she has ever had and I couldn’t agree more.

    Chef Damon, the ever professional & courteous wait staff, Chance and a new sweet acquaintance from New Jersey who sat next to me, made my day today. Some people have no idea how much difference they make by just showing up as themselves. I typed this review just to remind them that they make a difference! Every bite was a party in my mouth. Their ambience and vibe is what makes it an Austin gem! Star or no star, we love Uchi and the wonderful atmosphere it creates for their customers as well as people who work there. Keep it up Uchi!

    This was probably one of the best meals I have every had. If you like real sushi this is the place to go. The prices are higher than most sushi places but the quality is worth it. It was absolutely wonderful.

    This is sushi for the true sushi aficionado. Secure your reservation well in advance, because this place gets booked up for a very good reason. We tried a bunch of dishes, and every single one was superb. It's an unpretentious, comfortable dining environment with out of this world food and excellent service. We were visiting Austin. Truly wish this restaurant was available where we live. We'd visit weekly.
