In a stunning Cornish Atlantic setting, just a mile from St Ives, Ugly Butterfly restaurant and bar offers spectacular views across one of the worlds most beautiful coasts, Carbis Bay. Ugly Butterfly showcases chef Adam Handling’s passion for converting locally-sourced, quality ingredients into beautifully-presented dishes, packed full of flavour. Offering an all-day dining experience, the Ugly Butterfly bar uses trims and offcuts from the ingredients used in the restaurant to create delicious drinks and bar snacks. This bar menu will illustrate that there is no such thing as food waste, much in the same way that there is no such thing as an Ugly Butterfly.

    Absolutely excellent service and food. Would like more varied meat options. Would prefer a more upright dining chair and bill to arrive without service charge added as it is a discretionary charge.

    Great location, lovely surroundings, food delicious and beautifully presented with contemporary and local twists, however the service was disappointing, lacking attention during our afternoon tea. The bar was quiet with only a few tables occupied, so no excuse for staff having to be asked for pots of tea during an afternoon tea service. The staff were pleasant, just not attentive which is expected of an establishment of this calibre.

    Great experience with staff who really cared about us having an enjoyable time. Each element was explained and we enjoyed every part of our afternoon tea. The presentation and flavours were superb.

    Food was hit and miss. Some courses were interesting whilst others were a bit more formulaic. The pricing was a little high for the quantity and quality of food received. Service was generally good.

    Best dining experience we have ever had. Flavours were incredible and not a single plate we didn’t enjoy - for someone who has never eaten fish, I loved it all! Service was absolutely amazing, everyone who visited our table took their time and knew their stuff, everyone was genuinely lovely. We can’t wait to come back, would 1000% recommend a visit.

    We came here on a recommendation and it was an amazing experience and a wonderful way to celebrate our wedding anniversary .(the card on our table was a lovely surprise Thankyou ) The personal service , individual descriptions of each course , how it was locally sourced where possible and with an emphasis on no waste , was charming . We could not fault anything . We had the tasting menu and each dish was delicious and uniquely flavoured . The atmosphere was relaxed and the view over Carbis Bay such an added bonus . Excellent evening Thankyou
