   My wife and I had our first dining experience at Ulu this evening and it will not be our last! In a great waterside setting on the Ka’anapali coast near Whaler’s Village we had a great meal! We started with the Broccoli Salad, Coconut Shrimp (not deep fried; instead in a wonderful coconut puree with slaw), and the Szechuan Green Beans. Each dish was creatively prepared and delicious! Michelin level quality. We shared an entree - the Macadamian Nut Crusted Mahi-mahi - also wonderfully prepared and delicious! Our server, James, was terrific - a perfect complement to a great evening. We have found another top shelf place to dine while in Maui and imagine Ulu will become a mainstay on the coast!

   Loved our dining experience at Ulu Kitchen. Ambiance is lovely, seated outdoors with view of the Pacific and the island of Lanai and a spectacular sunset (our reservation was at 5:30… timing worked out great!) Our dinners included MaiTai’s (with local honey), lobster ravioli, macadamia nut encrusted mahi mahi and special dessert of the day. Our server, Justin, was first rate, knowledgeable and attentive, supported by a capable team. We’ll definitely come back again!

   Had one of the worst omelets ever. The zucchini. I’m talking bitter, not even a taste of egg. Just awful. Tried one bite, was so bad that I just covered it with napkin and asked for the check as to not cause an issue. Waitress noticed, apologized and said she gets that reaction all of the time to this dish. If wait staff is getting that feedback wonder why they don’t just take it off the menu. Great service, bad food.

   Tonight was the third time we ate at this restaurant in the last five days. Every time the food and service have been top notch. I would highly recommend eating here. We’ll be back!

   A bit of trouble getting our meals at the same time (8 of us) the food was ok, a few were over cooked and 1 was undercooked… the desserts were fabulous.
