Food quality very good, and surely Boston’s best value omakase (given the other choice, O Ya, has become preposterously overpriced in the last few years. But compared to omakase in other cities - New York, San Francisco, even Austin or Dallas - the food was average at best. Sake menu is well above average, especially for Boston. Service was exemplary for anywhere, both overall and in their proactive accommodation and creative alternatives for dietary restrictions.

This restaurant is excellent. The food was untraditional but so cool. It was innovative while still paying homage to tradition. Who knew fois gros paired so well with sushi rice?!

Wonderful, indulgent experience. Great for a special occasion for someone who really adores Japanese food, and in particular sashimi and sushi. While there were a few dishes that did not contain raw fish, that was the focus. The food was exceptional - some unusual combinations, and all of it incredibly fresh, and artfully-presented. By sitting at a table we probably learned less about the food and could not watch the chefs in action - but this was better for our group of four to be able to talk. I think there are pros and cons to both experiences. We were glad that we were able to spend a bit longer at our table than we were initially told to expect. Indeed, if the table were only ours for an hour and a half, that would have felt very rushed. There was a 5:30 pm seating and an 8 pm seating, so understandably we needed to be out before 8 pm - but we were seated and enjoyed eating, drinking and conversation for over two hours.

When all 12 guests dishes are prepared at the same time, it slows down the dinner process compared to an individual omakase. The nigiri courses were mostly traditional, I would have liked to have seen bolder or more interesting flavors. Was not a particular fan of the fruit garnishes on the nigiri and sashimi. I did enjoy the somen course, and seeing the whole fish presentations. It would be nice to have some nama sake available by the glass.
