We had the $150 per person Omakase meal for 2. The fish is very fresh and the chef chooses interesting and quality offerings, including imported Japanese uni and unagi, and puts sincere effort into the preparation. Having lived in Japan and as someone who travels there each year for a month at a time - the expectation for Omakase is a complete experience. The servings are all about the quality of the fish and its preparation. Sauces and condiments were strong and overpowered the fish. The counter should be beautiful, the ceramic and glassware dishes unique and interesting, and the dish ware from the servings should be removed quickly when complete to keep the visual experience special. The traditional omakase restaurant is only bar/counter seating with limited chairs. This is not the experience here. Umami is a bar, restaurant and a counter with sushi and steak offerings. Our meal with no sake or drinks was nearly $400 for 2 - the value was not present in the Umami omakase experience.

My husband and I went here for a nice meal out. We spent a significant amount of money and ordered multiple drinks. The lighting was dark and dim. As I was taking a last sip of my drink something went into my MOUTH! And it was a daddy long legged spider. I was beside myself, couldn’t believe it. The waiters solution was to have me write down my name and number and offer me a free drink next time I come in. I was very disappointed and disgusted. For such an expensive meal, this was unacceptable.

Was looking for a steak dinner in Old City. Never thought I’d find it at a Sushi place. One of the best steaks I’ve had. I had the 20oz Porterhouse which was outstanding. The wife had Sushi. The value for the quality of food is great. The service was excellent. Give this place a try. It doesn’t disappoint. I’ll be back. See you in 2 weeks.

We had a great time at Umami Steak and Sushi bar last evening. Our server Alex was very attentive and ensured that all of our orders were correct. The food was simply amazing! Considering the fact that our reservation was late that still did not negatively impact the quality of food we received. Everything was fresh and very tasty! The presentation was great, the drinks had a nice kick to them as well! Some of our favorites from the evening were: Ribeye Steak (will be back for more 🤤), shrimp fried rice and the sushi. If you’re in the area definitely stop in and give them a try, you won’t be disappointed!

The Walter was so rude and the food wasn’t great. The place should be like a 3- star and not 4-star.

The sushi bar at Umami is a hidden gem. You can chase clout at the trendy, popular sushi restaurants in this city, or you can go to the sushi bar at Umami and have a great experience as well. For the most authentic experience at the sushi bar, be sure to get the chefs choice 9 piece, 18 piece or omakase, skip the special maki rolls (save those for takeout or sitting at a normal table), that's not what a sushi counter is about. The sushi chef will deliver you fresh nigiri piece by piece.

The steaks in our opinion were not worth 50 dollars.
