   Underdog has been named Austin’s Best New Restaurant 2023 and one of Austin’s best restaurants — but it’s still underrated, in my humble opinion. It’s that good. Underdog should be named the the best in Texas, the Southwest, the U.S. Underdog’s food keeps getting better and better. Underdog’s wine program is top notch. Co-owner Richard Hargreave is among the country’s best wine professionals. I’ve been around the block a few times in this department and Richard shows me something new every time I go. All I say is “hey Rich — what should I get?” Spot on. And Underdog’s service team is so sweet. Most have been there since the start — which says a lot about the place. Go now.

   Underdog exceeded expectations! Portions were generous, food was incredibly well executed, kimchi was obviously homemade and fresh/mild too. The space is beautiful and the owners served us themselves and were the nicest people. It feels like a gem you’re protective of! Both of my friends agreed we’d absolutely come back both for steak frites night but especially for the Korean dishes. Also, the pecan silvanas blew all of our minds. They also have a small wine shop/tasting room off to the side that is so cute!

   The food was delicious and a very well done fusion. I would only prefer it slightly less salty. We found good wines to pair with the food and the dessert. The service was excellent. The place was elegant, but could have had a little more personality. Overall, an excellent restaurant.

   3 tables were seated for dinner. It was my first time to eat at this restaurant and no one offered to explain the menu. Staff was curt and inattentive. One table was so loud I couldn’t even carry a conversation with the person I was seated with. Will not be returning. Food was less than average and way overpriced. $5.50 per fried oyster?

   Fiancé and I went to celebrate our engagement, and they had a nice little setup for us along with champaign! Food was unique and delicious, and service was outstanding.

   Unusually underrated. This place is quite the find. We popped in on a Fridau evening before the symphony and enjoyed some of their greatest hits. The pancake was fiercely delicate and a perfect starter for the savory dishes. Our table split the short ribs, the wagyu flank and the fried bird. The last two are MUST ORDER material. Flawless service, considered environment and a serious culinary attitude. Be an Underdog. Get your butt here!!

   Underdog is a hidden gem that should be way more popular than it is. The food is great (Korean inspired) and the wine/service is impeccable. They are always open to letting you taste some wines before deciding, and the staff are so knowledgeable and kind. You can get parking validated in the garage below, too. Highly recommend! Get the sourdough pancake and the Silvana dessert. So good.

   People are amazing. The space and ambiance are ok. The food was good but it didn’t make me want to come back for round two.

    Outstanding food. The steak tartare, grilled oyster, and donut were out of this world. The fried chicken and egg soufle were also fantastic! Great wine pairings. Can’t wait to go back!
