The Union Oyster House, located on the Freedom Trail, near Faneuil Hall, enjoys the unique distinction of being America's oldest restaurant. This Boston fixture, housed in a building dating back to Pre-Revolutionary days, started serving food in 1826 and has continued ever since with the stalls and oyster bar, where Daniel Webster was a constant customer, in their original positions.

Food decent. Small portions especially for the price. Cool building with all the history. Would go to visit but not eat.

The staff was courteous seated us promptly as soon as we arrived. The host offered to take a photo of us with a lobster. Great overall experience. Our drinks came out quickly. Our server was polite ,friendly and knowledgeable. The clam chowder was amazing. The cod was out of this world great experience dining in the oldest restaurant in the United States. Highly recommend.

Love the historic location. Great history and food right on Freedom Trail. Fairly priced for the city. Great Clam Chowda! Will return next time we’re in town.

Very historic venue. Seems to be all original booths etc. and you get a real feel for the old days. Chowder was excellent and food was good. Food and beverages were delivered quickly. None of the wait staff ever smiled. Our waitress never introduced herself. Employees all seemed to be doing their job - but not really caring that they were working with the public. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Probably won’t return.

It's iconic and worth a visit once. Food is good, but overpriced. Our waitress even admitted the prices were "tourist prices".

We came for oysters and were not disappointed. Will was our server and he was very personable and checked up on us frequently. The French onion soup was okay.

Great food and outstanding service. Only complaint was the cleanliness of the restaurant and bathroom was not very good. The prices seemed high for the food received.
