Vasco and Piero opened the restaurant in 1971. Vasco and Piero created the restaurant out of a passion for good, uncomplicated Italian food. The making of fresh pasta on the premises has always been a priority. From the outset, the menu changed twice a day, a tradition which still continues.
Vasco was born in Umbria and as a result of this many foods are sourced direct from farmers in this region. Particular favourites are truffles, wild mushrooms, seasoned cheeses and cured meats such as lombetto and capocollo.
We only use the best quality extra virgin olive oil mainly from Umbria, Central Italy.
Many of our hams & salames such as Lombetto (a cured loin of pork) are imported from local Umbrian farms.
When in season, we import black & white truffles from hunters around the hills of Umbria.
Our balsamic vinegar is from Modena. We use Maldon sea salt with pure flaky crystals.

Over the years, we have been asked to just keep on bringing dishes to try. After making so many decisions during the daytime, who has the energy to choose from a la carte menu. Just leave it to us. Some people however do not realise that they can do this. Leave the choice to us for a variety of starters, a pasta dish, dessert selection and choose just the main course. That way you get to try a variety of dishes.£70 per head for 7 courses.

A fantastic restaurant with the feel of a small family venue. The service was excellent and a perfect balance of attentive but respectful. Excellent and tasty food and a credit to the staff and chefs for being able to coordinate all 11 receiving our meals at the same time.

Lovely welcoming ambiance with great service and food. Italian specialties such as Tuscan sausages and truffle pasta were delicious. Our favourite Italian restaurant.

We had tortellini sage and linguine prawn main dishes which we both liked. However the beetroot salad starter was below average / I would have the chef rethink the structure of this dish - the souffle brocoli was good. We like red wine and had theMontepulciano d Abruzzo which was perfect on the night- on the menu choice of wines by the glass eg only one white. The service was excellent and the people were friendly , warm and professional and perhaps that also reflected on the restaurant’s overall atmosphere which we liked.

I am an irregular regular at V&P. Always love it. Had a deliciously al dente spicy tomato lobster pasta as a starter and their signature Umbrian sausages and beans for main. Italian cheeses to share after. Worth noting that the menu changes daily so will have all the favourites and whatever is fresh on the day. Fruity Gavi to wash down the pasta and Barolo for the main course and cheeses. Charming happy service in their new spacious premises on d’Arblay St. Really recommend this independent, family-owned Italian gem
