   Great experience with Rachael! Lobster Benedict and Buffalo truffle chicken sandwich were perfect! Tons of lobster on the Benedict too! Loved the ambiance on the patio too ❤️

   Tried a bite at austin food and wine festival so decided to go in. Ambiance and vibe are great, but felt like the food did not really come out piping hot. Scallops were great (sauce was weird) carrots were nice, but the service was poorly timed, he took a bit to take our order, said he would course out our meal and then brought out 2 dishes, then the next two entrees when we were one bite in on the first two apps. So it was a little weird on timing.

   Chef Paolo Gama has put together an amazing and innovative menu. He explained the origins of many of the dishes and it was fascinating. The dishes are delicious but many of the flavors were new to me, many inspired by the region where he grew up and where he and his wife’s families are from in Mexico. Get ready for guava and various mole sauces! A good example is the beef tenderloin. Yes, it was prepared to perfection, but the orange mezcal sauce was what set it apart. And the local grilled mushrooms and carrots might sound normal but they were delicious and different. The atmosphere is beautiful and the service was excellent. We’re just visiting. We’re not from Austin. Austin has some great restaurants. But Verbena is way underrated and unappreciated, maybe because it’s in a hotel? If it was properly valued it would be difficult to get a reservation there. So , when you want to go out, have a great meal in a beautiful setting at a good price and Lilly get a reservation the same night then Verbena would be your go to.

   Portion size was disappointing. Raw oysters were small and grilled scallop entre included only 3 medium size scallops. Only 4 tables occupied during the course of our Monday evening dinner. Had tried to walk-in on prior Saturday evening but due to a lack of staff was unable to be seated.
