The Duke of York is so called because the hill we sit on is said to be the very hill up which the Grand Old Duke of York marched his 10,000 men, before marching them down again. This is a reference to the troop encampment located here in Napoleon's time to protect the coast.

The Duke of York is a distinctive country pub near the River Deben, a perfect refreshment stop for visitors to Woodbridge, the Tide Mill and Sutton Hoo.

Lovely food as normal however we wanted a bottle of fizzy water and were told they didn’t sell them !!? Strange but apart from that we had a lovely lunch

Great atmosphere and nice relaxed environment to enjoy a evening with a loved one. This place was where I met my wife 4 years ago, as biased as this sounds, we always find it enjoyable to come here.

Lovely new years eve meal met every requirement for a fussy eater in our group..... Some music would have been nice as it was new years or table decorations or crackers??
