Overlooking the confluence of Spray and Bow Rivers, The Waldhaus. our "House in the Forest" is a retreat for those seeking solace from Banff's bustle. What began as the Clubhouse for the renowned Stanley Thompson Golf Course has transformed into a sanctuary of Mountain gastronomy. In the dining room above, rich timber and a majestic hearth narrate the epic tales of bygone explorations. Meanwhile, the Bierhalle below is where history and merriment collide, offering a spirited space for companionship, games, and the shared joy of storied adventures.
Please note: - The Waldhaus is designated as a historical building and such has stairs to access all areas. - The Bierhalle and Billardhalle only take limited reservations, otherwise operating on a first-come, first-served basis - Regrettably the Waldhaus does not take reservations for its patio due to the unpredictability of mountain weather however, we will do our best to accommodate patio requests on a per case basis.

Good but not as good as I remember. Can't beat the location and ambiance but at this point, there are many better German restaurants in the Bow Valley.

My Wife and I had a reservation at 7:45. We arrived early and they were very friendly and able to accommodate us. We shared the Soft Pretzels to start which were fantastic. We then had the Schnitzel for our dinner. It was great! We shared an Apple Strudel for dessert and it was very very good. The pastry quality was excellent. Our server was very kind and the room was not very loud for a Friday night. Will definitely revisit Waldhaus in the future!

A very pleasant experience as usual. The location, the ambiance both inside and outside makes this place ideal for a date especially around Christmas time with its inspiring decor and warm fireplace .
Our favourite spot for a Swiss cheese fondue which is always delicious. We will return for sure

This place is good with yummy food. Nothing over the top or fancy about it which I liked. We were seated in the sunroom area so it wasn’t as cozy as being in the main dining room. Lighting out there is abysmal. Like just a few ceiling lights with bright fluorescent bulbs. It was like dungeon or basement lighting. Not warm and inviting and honestly kind of killed the vibe. This is such an easy inexpensive fix to install more/better warm lighting to create a nice ambience. Dining chair seat was caved in and i basically sank. Place needs a bit of a facelift.

Fantastic location, terrific food (same/larger menu than upstairs at the restaurant). The pub feels like an old English pub with wood beams etc. the views from the patio are amazing and they have a fire going on winter evenings. Staff are great and the whole atmosphere is outstanding. We highly recommend and will be back for sure.
