Fabulous food and amazing to walk round the hotel and look at the history and photographs from Private collections.

This was a disappointing experience for a birthday celebration and welcome to visitors from USA. Surroundings were beautiful, food was mediocre, but unfortunately the bottle of wine ordered with our food order did not arrive (despite 2 requests) until the end of our main course when one guest had entirely finished his meal. The wine was taken off the bill but this spoiled our meal and a special day out.

Service was very slow- admittedly it was a busy Sunday. We ordered their ‘traditional turkey and ham’ but there is nothing to write home about it. And at £25 - very disappointing. McKee’s Turkey and ham pack at £5.49 looks more appetising than what we were presented with earlier at the hotel! Pathetic looking- 3 half Brussels sprouts, 1 fiddly looking small carrots, 2 pathetic excuse of a roast potato, very salty gravy, two small cocktail sausages, small size of a ‘ham’ that tasted like it has just bee reheated (cafe-ish!). Sooooo very disappointed. And oh we didn’t even get cranberry sauce! We asked for one- and we were given a small pot of it- for the three of us???? Very pathetic indeed! Do not waste your money! The bill? £96!!! We ended up at the Xmas market to fill us up!

Food portions related to price were not value for money. Our dessert order didn’t arrive within 40minutes and when we spoke to a member of staff he did apologise and eventually they were served another 10minutes later. In fairness, due to the unacceptable delay, the desserts were deducted from our overall bill.

Had a great evening at the Wolff Grill, French onion soup was delicious followed then by ever so succulent fillet stake, the hake was amazing and to top the night off we had a crème brûlée. Great evening with great service.

Excellent location with a building that is charming, spacious and refined. We had a lovely meal and though we shared nibbles to start and shared a dessert, the main with a couple of sides was more than enough. Next time we’ll likely pair dinner with an overnight stay to take advantage of the lovely bar area.

I ordered the Thai veg curry. It seemed to be all courgette with hard skin and aubergine. Poor selection of veg and very small portion of rice. I'm dairy free and had a good choice of puddings. The serving staff were excellent and very helpful .

Monkfish Scampi and Ribeye steak were our main course with sides. Food was cooked to order and food was tasty. Staff were efficient and pleasant throughout. Enjoyed before Concert. Thanks

Lovely place, nice food but not as good as I remember 3 years ago back. We had a new waitress for each dish and nobody came to ask if we wanted something else after coffee. They sent a young waiter to ask us to leave because they needed the table. We felt very awkward. The waiter was lovely and nice but awkward situation as we were here for food and drinks and would have more drinks if someone would ask us. In general nice place for lunch but not sure I would come back
