We had a set 3 course meal that was included in our hotel stay and the food was really nice! The food all tasted really fresh and there was a good choice. Staff were all really friendly and helpful.

We had the Sunday roast could have had a few more potatoes very nice food all three courses well presented .The atmosphere was quite and pleasant,the staff were friendly and pleasant from the start.

Although this was not mentioned when booking, the restaurant was actually closed and we were asked to sit in the Woodside Restaurant next door which is a dark, tired café type facility. Also, presumably because of Covid regulations, all the doors to the outside areas were left open and it was not a very warm evening. The food was fine but despite there not being many fellow diners, the service levels were not great.

Good food plenty of space lovely gardens. We were next to kitchen and coffee machine hence ambience lower so ask for window. This was my old hall of residence so trip down memory lane.

The afternoon tea food was delicious, served on a lovely "picnic table" slate bench. Numerous small cakes/macaron, warm scones with clotted cream and jam - and delicious sandwiches (smoke salmon, coronation chicken, ham). There was also the cutest miniature cottage pie tart and deep fried mac ' cheese. I would have given the afternoon tea a genuine 5 star review for the food and service. I was just a little disappointed, as our first trip, with the table decor. The tables looked like formica and I think if I was dining there in the evening, I would feel a bit let down.

Not bad, but service a little slow, distracted by a very noisy elderly group, persistently given to formal speech-making. That rather spoiled the ambience. Food decent as usual, with better starters than mains, for the latter of which choice was a little limited, with two of the eight choices being burger-equivalents. Too many of the eight were commonplace dishes that I often cook at home, and I would like a more imaginative menue. Cheese board was rather dull in composition, lacking 'bite' and without a blue, but on mentioning this, maitre d' did discount one of our three cheeseboards, which was a positive response, and did you credit.

The service was horrendous, had to wait for cutlery and sauces. 3 starters served out of 4 had to chase the 4th one up. Staff just stood talking. Food is good, the superfood salad to start was excellent however the entire meal was ruined by the dreadful service
