This restaurant was a curiosity for us , having once been a religious girls’ school. Upon arrival we were a little uncomfortable with the altar/bar situation - felt out of respect for the altar, it should have been removed and replaced with a regular bar. We enjoyed the stained glass windows and the overall structure of the first floor, but were seated in the choir loft which was quieter, but an unusual space. The noise level was high in both spaces. That being said - the food was phenomenal! I enjoyed the best pot roast I have ever eaten and my husband’s rib eye was superb! A culinary delight, but not sure we would return based on the atmosphere/overall experience!

I was excited to check this spot out and high hopes ! The restaurant itself is really cool in the old church which actually I think most recently was used as an all girls boarding school but anyway, it was very nice inside. However, I was highly disappointed with the food. The bread was like just Hawaiian rolls that I could buy at the grocery store with some everything bagel seasoning on top. I ordered the chicken and not a speck of seasoning on it. Just pale white chicken with a Tiny bit of sauce around it.. It was probably the worst chicken I’ve ever had. The steak was mediocre, but I could’ve got it at any chain steakhouse to be honest. The mashed potatoes were good and the chocolate desert. Won’t be back.

The service was excellent, the food was unique and delicious, and the restaurant and bar in a converted chapel was beautiful. We went on a Friday night and there was a good crowd, but the noise level was bordering on intolerable. No music and no one was speaking overly loud, but the acoustics are such that it was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. We had a hard time hearing the server and had to ask her to repeat herself several times. Distracting and not very relaxing. Perhaps go in the middle of the week, and very early or very late. It might make a difference in your experience.

I was incredibly disappointed with our meal at Wye Oak Tavern. The food was so bland! I was shocked at how bland both our apps were (cheesecake & beets), our entrees (Swordfish & Rockfish) and the Chocolate Chip Cookies (they literally tasted like nothing!). The sweet potatoes side dish was the star of the entire night, only dish with flavor. The Lemon Meringue & Wye Oak desserts were incredibly tasty as well. Overall the service was wonderful, great ambiance, fair price point. Hoping the kitchen makes some much needed adjustments.
