   Food was amazing.. brute venue was beautiful. Loved it. The service was very poor. Waitress didn't want to be there. Served is bread on our arrival. Took the cocktail menus away. Had to ask if we could order s cocktail and get the menus. She forgot she served us bread and served it again with our first course repeating her exact words the first time she brought it. Never gave us bread plates wet had to ask. We spent 90.00 each for high end wine and she repeated the description the same for 3 wine tastings. We had no food or drinks for a long time. We asked if we could order a cocktail and she said the wine would come. Waited and waited it finally came . She was inattentive. Not very friendly. Bad attitude. It was such a shame. It was over 500.00 which we have no problem with, but the service should be good. It was really bad service.

   We almost froze trying to get off the island...that was the worst. Due to construction we did not head the right way and were blocked from getting off the island, having to turn around and retrace steps. Signage for exit would have been really helpful.

   My fiancee and I went to the River Cafe for a set menu Valentine's Day dinner and had a wonderful time. The staff were all very friendly. They sat us right away and brought all 5 courses and drinks promptly. They explained the dishes and cocktails, which were all delicious. Definitely a cozy and bright atmosphere.

   Everything was great, until it wasn’t. We went in for a birthday dinner this weekend and opted for the tasting menu, which was excellent. Out came sourdough, followed by carpaccio, croquettes, all delicious. Then the duck came out, which we both noted how it was quite rare (fat cap rendered but barely, skin crispy but hardly so). It is worth noting that we were not given an option on temperature/doneness. Despite our better judgment and reluctance to question the chefs, we tucked in. We finished with the delicious peach panna cotta. Two drinks each and a 5 course meal for $250 (excluding tip) and we felt we received great value for our money. In addition our service was excellent, with the staff leaving a card for the birthday girl, and frequent check-in’s from Craig, the maître-d. That is, however, until about 1-2AM when the birthday girl woke up and sadly spent the next couple hours next to the toilet. I did not suffer the same fate but did feel woozy despite having an iron stomach. Seeing as we only had those two alcoholic beverages and nothing more that night, we’re convinced the culprit was the borderline temperature of the duck. It is unfortunate, seeing as every other aspect of our night was excellent, however at any price point, it is simply unacceptable and just a little disappointing that what was so close to being a perfect night was now not so. I understand mistakes happen, but cannot help feeling a little let down.
