Fantastic from start to finish. Flavours and dishes that are new to Halifax, all delicious. One of my new favourite spots in the city. The lasagna and butter cake especially were incredible.

We were greeted when we arrived with warmth and cheerfulness. This continued with every interaction with staff. They were knowledgeable about the food and beverages and confidently answered our questions. The food was exceptional - in every way, in every bite. Flavours were exquisite to our palates. The servings were just right. This was a lovely experience!

Our mission? Great people helping other great people totally have a blast while enjoying amazing food. Wow, that was a mouthful. But can you blame us? We’re a restaurant. One that specializes in delicious food and great times. Our goal is to make you laugh. And depending on your hot sauce tolerance, cry.

In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.

But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.

Our server was so sweet, kind and informative Our food was delicious but almost came out too fast - not that we are complaining! I always seem to forget about Jack Astor's when planning to eat out since we enjoy mainly supporting local, but Jack Astor's might join the rotation a little bit more for when we want some drinks and grub.

Donald McIsaac erected this beautiful three storey brick building in 1862-1864 on Sims Corner, so called because the property had been in the possession of Thomas and Charlotte Alchorn Sims from 1806.

The most colourful owner and occupant of the building was Mr. P.P. Gillis, who ran the “Red Pharmacy” between 1895 and 1910.

A drug-store in the front half of the building and a reputed conviviality shop in the rear, proved very popular with local businessmen while prohibition was in effect. This location has also been a large family home, apartments and a barber shop.

In the fall of 2005 local restaurateur Murphy's purchased the building and began the process of renovating to create what you are experiencing today.

Murphy Hospitality Group is proud to present you with Prince Edward Island’s first authentic Steakhouse, and “Atlantic Canada’s Premier Steakhouse Experience”.

This nice little gem was our first time. The food menu has a bit of everything, the portion was really good, the service was really good. I would like to suggest to take a closer glance at the layout and ambiance. Upon our arrival the light were really bright and with the wood tables and metal chairs does not reflect what the restaurant wants to achieve. The potential is there and with prime location I think they are missing a great opportunity!
