In the Middle Eastern culture, meza (Lebanese term for appetizer) consists of a vast array of small sized, hot and cold dishes, great for sampling and sharing. At Carousel, our menu offers a selection of kebabs to seafood to an array of vegetarian items. We offer more than 60 meza items, ranging from familiar dishes, such as hummus, falafel and tabouleh to more traditional delicacies. Everything that we serve comes from original family recipes passed down through generations. I’ve been here many times and it’s always a lovely experience. The people who work here are so kind and accommodating, the food is always delicious, and the vibes are welcoming and peaceful. The brunch is great, I eat mostly raw foods and love their kale colossus salad and raw tacos as well as their wide range of raw desserts and smoothies. The friends and family I usually come with have yet to order anything they don’t like, but the Mac and Cheese, classic nachos, and lasagna tend to be the most popular (I really think you can’t go wrong though).

We were excited to try Hugo’s while visiting LA as the entire menu is gluten free. The special menu had pumpkin pancakes which were phenomenal. I enjoyed every bite. I was excited to see cornbread offered as part of another dish and asked if I could have a side of cornbread. The cornbread unfortunately was not served at room temperature and was dried out. I added some of my syrup to it which helped add moisture as the flavor was good. I was told the four cheese macaroni and cheese with the GF penne was very good as was the omelette. Dessert offerings of peach cobbler and pumpkin pie were also enjoyed, though a comment was made that the pumpkin pie was a little heavy on the cinnamon and other spices.
