   Our reservation was not honoured by Salvi's. We booked a table at 4.45 on 29th Dec prior to a show at the AO Arena at 6.30 (which was a Christmas treat for my daughter) . We arrived early for the reservation at around 4.35. There were at least 6 sets of people waiting to be seated, most of them had reservations for 4.30 and hadn't even been seated. All tables in the restaurant were still occupied. No-one came to check us in, there was no room to sit whilst waiting as all available seats for waiting were full & potential deers were queuing up the stairs. Those who were already waiting had been told that we were unlikely to be seated for some time - hence we were unlikely to be able to be served our meals in time for our show reservation. Many were in the same boat, having tickets for Les Miserables as we had. We left for 5 minutes to try adjacent restaurants which were all full. We returned at 4.45 and still were not checked in. Eventually, a waiter asked us if we had a reservation. We said yes, but before we could ask about the likelihood of us getting seated and served in time for the show he simply walked off. We waited another 10 minutes and gave up (along with many other diners). Due to the time of year all other restaurants were v busy so our only option was Nando's. Not what we had in mind for our pre show meal and really spoiling what was supposed to be a Christmas treat for my daughter. Salvi's had clearly overbooked the restaurant and took no interest or care in customers who had booked tables. Appalling service. Obviously, I can't speak for the food as we didn't get any! Won't be returning if this is how they treat customers. Avoid!!!

   We’ve eaten several times at Salvis over the years and have always recommended it to our friends. It was probably just a one off . We arrived to a very busy restaurant as it was just before Les Mis at AO Arena. We were seated pretty quickly and the restaurant cleared, leaving it about a third full. We waited over half an hour before we had to beckon a waiter over to ask for a drink. We were brought the wine and 2 glasses. One of the glasses was an Aperol Spritz labelled chunky glass rather than a proper wine glass, into which the waiter poured the wine and ask my wife to taste it. We know there are plenty of bad things going on in the world and a wrong wine glass is a trivial thing but when you go to a place like Salvi’s you do expect to be given a proper glass. The food was very good as normal, we continued drinking the wine and were asked if we wanted a dessert, we said no thank you, then were immediately approached by the waiter with the bill and card machine even though we hadn’t asked for it as we were going to have coffee. I did say could we not just finish our wine and he apologised but it was obvious they were keen for us to leave so we paid the bill, finished the wine and left. It had obviously been a very busy time over the Christmas period and the service wasn’t quite up to what it should be. We will be back but rather than automatically choosing Salvis I think we will try another restaurant next time.

   Fantastic find in the middle of Manchester. Small Delhi upstairs leading down to the restaurant below. Friendly, attentive staff. Superb food- pizzas homemade and uses the best Italian ingredients. Tried Canoli for the first time- amazing! If we ever go back to Manchester for a weekend, we will definitely be coming back.

    I think just about every chef and server was Italian! Food and service were great. It’s in a basement and they’ve done a pretty great job not feeling like you don’t have windows but at the end of the day it’s still a basement
