   Visited on Valentine’s Day and was not disappointed. Cocktails at the bar, Gin Blossom and an Old Fashioned. The barman made a wonderful recommendation for a rye whisky. Dinner after was Halibut and Lamb Ragu. My wife said the halibut was cooked perfectly. My lamb ragu was very tasty. Staff were very attentive throughout. We have supported Scratch a lot since lockdown, possibly the nicest venue on Castro if you like a stylish venue with good food and quality drinks. Ambiance can suffer though if it is quiet.

   Lovely brunch with my mom and sister before a Sunday matinee play. We had the omelette and the crab cake brunch entrees. They were delicious. Coffee is very good too.

   We were generally pleased with our food at Scratch. In particular, we were very happy with the scallops that, while they looked rather small on the large plate, were seared exactly right and had two lovely sauces accompanying them (plus a slice of pork belly, I think, below). The lamb ragu pasta was not as delicately done nor as pleasantly tasty, although my dining partner found it robust and satisfying. We had excellent service during our meal. We were expecting the prices of entrees to be a bit higher than most places, which they were, but not exorbitant. However, we did expect that a glass of red wine to be over $21. We were happy that the restaurant is farm-to-table, which we were looking for.

   We had an early dinner after a show, and the restaurant was quiet enough to hear each other. As it got later, the noise level ramped up. My husband and I had whole branzino that was herb-crusted and stuffed with herbs and lemon slices. It was delicious. Our friends had the lobster roll and said it was good but not up to their standards. The desserts were delicious.

   Enjoyed a wonderful meal with friends. Delicious appetizers, all 6 of us had amazing entrees, all different. Share a couple bottles of great wine. Had very attentive service. Will definitely come back

   Beautiful restaurant. Excellent and inventive food selections. Great cocktail menu and wine selection. Strange but service was slow -- even though there were not (yet) many other diners.

   Had a wonderful meal (brunch) with a friend. I had the crab cake with poached egg and she had the corned beef hash. We both thought our meals were delicious!

   Lunch time visit on a Saturday. Not very busy. Took a long time for someone to serve us. Ordered wine by the glass. Very long wait until server arrived and reported they did not have our choice by the glass (though menu indicated by the glass). Reordered and waiting a long time again. We ordered light since we had a play to attend. Ordered mussels and chipino, both indicated bread with the meals. Meals arrived, with no bread. Waited a few minutes thinking it would come. Never did. We asked and was told, they did not have what is on the menu. The server finally brought out some replacement bread (two different types - soft bread and semi burnt toast!! The food was pretty good. Not sure I will return.

    Great service and great food and a modern upbeat atmosphere. Some wonderfully different dishes like duck potstickers with a plum sauce; fabulous corn bread and a great variety of main dishes.
