   Outstanding experience, as usual. Christian, our server, was attentive, appropriate and kind. The view was excellent, as usual. We'll be there again soon.

   Beautiful view, but the service was lacking. It took forever to get our food, and the soups & shareable starters were served at the same time as the entrees. The food was bland, and the mussels were not fresh - super fishy/pungent. Also, I mentioned that I was celebrating my dad’s birthday on my reservation & at checkin and nothing was done to acknowledge it. I feel like I could get a better value elsewhere, but this restaurant is an OK spot just for soup & salad.

   Overall experience was good. Several orders had to be sent back because they were not accurate. Server was friendly and eager to please. Food was excellent. Ambiance was marred by another customer starring at me angrily for no apparent reason from a table diagonally across from me. this made the experience less than relaxing.

   I forget the name of my server, but she was very pleasant. I prefer to be seated at her table when she’s on duty.

   The food and service were extraordinarily good – truly five star! However while we dined a car near ours in the parking lot had its windows smashed and it's content stolen! The police officer who responded to the theft said that such robberies happened in this location daily!! I realize this is not the fault of Skates, however the public needs to be warned and Skates really needs to hire a security guard to watch over their parking lot – – and also Skates and its patrons need to scream living hell at the Berkeley city government for letting this happen!!

   We can only afford to eat at Skates a couple of times a year, but it is always a beautiful experience. We had steaks with crab legs as an appetizer. The food was perfectly prepared and served and the waiter was the best—very attentive and knowledgeable of the offerings. We felt comfortable taking our time and enjoying the view, the Golden Gate bridge at sunset.

   I was expecting so much more here. We had an 11:30 lunch reservation on 11/29. Doors weren't unlocked until almost noon. No apologies or explanation. Waitress was sweet and kind. One order was all wrong, another was swimming in garlic butter (asked for plain grilled salmon). Crab sandwich was cold - tasted like it was made yesterday and stored overnight. Clearly very disappointing and we won't be returning. A shame since we keep our sailboat there and have thoroughly enjoyed the other restaurants in the area.

    We went for Thanksgiving and the food was absolutely delicious. The wait staff went above and beyond with their service. Our cocktails were well prepared and full of flavor. We ordered the crab artichoke dip and it was incredible. I felt like I was home with traditional Thanksgiving plate that I ordered for my main dish. Thanks again Skates on the Bay for a wonderful Thanksgiving.
