TAVERNA is nestled in Saskatoon's historic downtown core within walking distance of a number of major hotels in the renowned entertainment district. The building was originally the grocery section of the J.F. Cairns Dept. Store dating back to 1907. Taverna still maintains this historical charm and character, serving delicious, rustic, exceptionally well-prepared Italian food since 1969. Simultaneously comfortable and authentic, yet aspirational.

We believe that keeping the food fresh, simple and whole is the secret to a successful dish. Italian food doesn't have to be complicated or elaborate to be spectacular. You just start with high-quality ingredients like: intensely flavored tomatoes, fresh garlic, warm basil, thick golden oil of first pressed olives... and the conscious effort to find them locally grown, organic, seasonal and sustainable when ever possible.

Maddy our server was amazing! Her suggestions and detailed descriptions of the dishes was impeccable. I used to go there for a server named Luigi who is no longer there, but she was an excellent replacement. The food was great tasting and came out hot and ready!

We had a business meal with 8 and I cannot think of anyway to improve our evening. Our single wait staff handled our entire food and beverage service professionally, friendly and quickly with absolutely no mistakes, she was The Best. The food is as it always is at Taverna, second to none. Wonderful appetizers, spectacular mains and a good selection of drinks to accompany any choice of food. We all had an evening to remember

Myself and two friends were dining. Tessa was an amazing server, food was all great, drinks were lovely as well. Truly, no complaints. I am a pretty particular diner and it's rare that I would give such high praise, but there really was nothing I could complain about and everything was tasty and fresh.

Taverna is one of our go to places for special occasions, and they never fail to please. Excellent food, service & atmosphere. It is only eclipsed by the fact we have almost exclusively had the same server every time for over 6 years. (He has been there 7 years, which should be an indication of just how good the atmosphere is when staff retention is that good.)
