The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

I booked online for 2 guests, myself and my daughter as a treat, it was the first time here. On arrival the food was lovely and the service was also good. Once finished I paid the bill and noticed they had charged me for 2 adults, however my daughter is 12 and it stated that 12 and under are classed as children, I advised the waitress who got the manager to see us. I found the manager to be quite intimidating and rude and he refused to refund the difference as I hadn't told them my daughter was a child. I was very disappointed with this service as I thought it was obvious she was not an adult and I advised there is no where to specify adults/children when booking just input the number of guests. This has put me off returning as I wonder how many other guests have been treated this way also. My daughter definitely did not eat an adult size portion, so if you are thinking of going here for afternoon tea please bear this in mind

Absolutely incredible! We had the Peter Pan afternoon tea, it was delicious. I had a gluten free one and you couldn't really tell the difference. Beautiful venue, friendly staff, overall a 10/10.

We chose the Assembly House for a birthday lunch & we really enjoyed it. Superb staff! Only criticism was a lack of wine/drinks to have with lunch & my cheese on toast was tasty but more toast than rarebit. Nevertheless we plan to return.
