The Captain Digby, a family friendly restaurant and bar which caters for all ages & occasions, with sea views overlooking Kingsgate Bay. We serve generously portioned fresh, home cooked food from our bar, restaurant & children's menu. Food is served from 12 noon each day, all day until late check our operating hours before arrival.
Choose from our family dining area, close to our indoor play area or our cliff top restaurant with sea views.
Alfresco dining is available with 40 benches overlooking the bay but these are non-reservable and work on a first come first served basis. Please note we can not guarantee window tables. We do not allow dogs inside our venue but they are welcome in our outside dining areas. Being so close to the shoreline we tend to have issues regarding internet connections and advise all customers also bring cash as an alternative payment.

Tonight's meal was up to it's normal good standard but service was slightly slower than I would have liked even though the restaurant wasn't full. I'll eat here again it is good value for money.

Lovely dinner only issue was when we asked if our 87 year old mum could have a small portion the waitress said they only do one size which is a waste surely if restaurants offered older people who cannot manage a large meal the option of a smaller portion it would save on food waste as in this instance we ordered our mum a normal meal and she left half of it not for any reason other than there was too much on her plate. However the food and service was full value for money

Food was average at best. Service great and staff kind and friendly but food was overcooked if not burnt. Great for the kids but really the food needs so much work this isn’t even pub grub or greasy cafe food it’s just rubbish and tasteless.

Apart from the restaurant being exceptionally busy it was a good experience. We did have to wait a while for our dinner to be served but it was because there was a large party for a 30th birthday on. We were given complimentary puddings as a gesture of goodwill because of the wait which was well received. Thank you. 🙏
