The Cat Inn is a 16th century free house set in the picturesque village of West Hoathly, a hilltop village set in the heart of the Sussex countryside. It is in within easy distance from the towns of East Grinstead and Haywards Heath and only 25 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

The Pub with its oak beams and two inglenook fireplaces proffers a warm and cosy atmosphere in the winter, whilst our terrace is perfect to enjoy a drink and food in the summer months. Being a free house we pride ourselves in the quality of our real ale, and concentrate on local breweries, such as Harvey's of Lewes and other micro breweries. Our food is cooked to order, using fresh, seasonal and where possible locally sourced ingredients. Our menus change on a regular basis and we also offer a small selection of seasonal specials on a daily basis.

We welcome children over the age of 7. Dogs are welcome in the "pub" area of the Cat, they are not permitted in the dining room

    Very slow unfortunately. Had to get them to take our order after we waited 40 mins and then food took a longtime to come. Dining with kids so not ideal.

    Another amazing meal at The Cat. It's really hard to describe just how perfect our evening was ... the food was so delicious - it just seems to get better and better, and the crab starter from the specials board was so good! The staff, as always, were amazing, perfect with timings and service and always so lovely to chat to. It was also pleasantly busy so the atmosphere was loveley but not noisy. Can't find fault in anything!

    Everyone at The Cat is friendly, service is prompt and efficient and the food is excellent. It’s one of very few pubs I go back to time and again.

    Always nice to eat at the cat a real treat and the rib eye steaks were perfect…really made my wife’s birthday dinner

    A warm welcome when we arrived at The Cat and we were offered a couple of alternative tables. Drinks and cutlery arrived in good time. We both chose items from the specials board; a crab starter and cod main course with additional vegetables. The meal was faultless. It was the best meal we've eaten out in a very long time. The cod was perfectly cooked, unlike the majority of places that overcook fish making it tasteless and dry. The selection of vegetables was also delicious. We will definitely be making return visits!
