Welcome to The Dorset Arms, one of Sussex's best kept secrets..

The Dorset Arms Public House in Withyham is an 18th century alehouse situated in the outstandingly beautiful Sussex Weald. Part of the historic Buckhurst Estate, the pub is named after the Earls and Dukes of Dorset, one time heads of the Sackville family, and shares a heritage of family ownership now headed by their descendant, the present Earl De La Warr.

Showcasing the best of what Sussex has to offer, our Head Chef has fine-tuned the classics and combined them with modern British dishes to provide a diverse and exciting menu.

    Second time lunching here in a month. Smashing menu, Christmas decor, friendly and attentive staff made lunch today an enjoyable occasion. The prawn cocktail was delicious. A return visit is planned.

    Food was delicious. Fairly quiet for a time and then a small Christmas group arrived who were not noisy but added to the atmosphere. Staff were friendly and efficient.

    Shown to our table as soon as we arrived. Excellent service and sumptuous food. Roast beef and lamb with all the trimmings you would expect from a Sunday roast. We will be returning.

    This is a gorgeous pub with a beautiful interior - tasteful and classy at the same time as being relaxed and unstuffy. Definitely my favourite pub in the area and I was pleased to take a large group here and to see how much they enjoyed it. Also, the lighting is just right and the staff are always friendly and polite.

    As always a delicious choice of food and drink, pleasant quiet atmosphere (we were there on a Thursday lunchtime though) and wonderful service from the ever cheerful and pleasant Lynn.
