   The wood fired pizza was better than any pizza I had in Italy.

   I understand this is student run, but even then the most basic of service was not provided. Our server was unable to tell us the special, didn’t offer to find out. Brought the wrong wine, then questioned our original order, it took over 35 minutes to bring the right bottle and restaurant was not busy. Did not know how pour, didn’t put wine in the chiller. I requested the bill and she said she would bring it when we were finished all of our wine, she was aware we had a concert to get to. I feel though learning if you had even ever eaten in a restaurant there would be more basic knowledge of how to serve. The arancini was delicious, the pizza was fine.

   We all enjoyed our experience dining at the Highwood. I heard about the Highwood years ago but had not been there before. I certainly will keep it in mind for future lunches and dinners.

   Our party had the Artichoke Dip as an appetizer. It was very good. For our Main we had the Surf and Turf, the steak was cooked to perfection. For the dessert we had the Olive Cake with Raspberry, it was exceptional. This was for a birthday party event, a very nice dessert plate was delivered to our table with a sparkler. A very nice and special touch. For drinks, we had Moscow Mule, Margaretta, bottle of red wine, americanos and decaf coffee. Service was a bit slow but it didn't bother us as we were there to visit and have fun. Note that this is a teaching institution; hence, the students cook the meal, prepare drinks and do all of the service. Have that in mind when you book as you will need to have an open mind, understand challenges as students learn and exercise patience if you expect a certain level of service. Thank you for a lovely evening and for making my birthday special!!!

    I’ve been to the Highwood many times and always enjoyed it but this time I was very disappointed. The food was mediocre, the hamburger was not good at all and the garden salad was mostly pickled veggies, not at all tasty. The prices go up every time as well, not the bargain it once was!! The service was very slow as well. We however were able to stay a long time and it’s nice and quiet to talk to and hear your friends. The front desk gal was lovely and took our picture and showed us around. I hope this is a one time flop and not the norm from now on.
