   We went for the Sunday night special- Prime Rib dinner with Yorkshire puddings. The beef was really quite tough and it shouldn't be for a prime rib. Perhaps they're just not buying quality meat; or, meat that has not been property aged. The vegetables were delicious - grilled to perfection and the garlic mashed potatoes were very tasty. The demi-glaze was delicious. Service was great, but music too loud.

   I have been here many times, this last time, the Prime Rib was outstanding as usual, the service was excellent, and the word is out, it was full.

   We haven't been to The Lobby at The Pinnacle Hotel for several years. We found that the noise level was too high and intrusive for pleasant dining. When we couldn't hear each other across a table for 4 people, we decided to cross this restaurant off our list. However, this was a special brunch (birthday), and the guest of honour suggested The Pinnacle, so I made a reservation and we met there. The restaurant and hotel lobby were decorated for Christmas, with lighted trees and baubles and looked very festive. Our table was a banquette on one side and chairs on the other. I chose a chair, but it was too low for me, I should have moved to the other side, my chin was practically on the table! We were a family party of 6. The server was slow in taking our orders, but the food arrived quickly and was appetizing and plentiful. I appreciate that two hours parking in the hotel parkade is paid for by The Pinnacle. I would suggest that management really consider changing some of the furniture or wall coverings to absorb the sounds of guests talking, and turn down the background (but actually foreground) "music" to a level where guests can hear each other talk. One thing I have never understood is why the restaurant is located on the ground floor of the hotel, when the top floor would have a great view of Vancouver. Instead, you see the inside of the restaurant, or people walking by outside and that grey building right in front, hardly a pleasant outlook for diners.

   We went for the Prime Rib on Sunday, and it was outstanding, done perfectly, and lovely presentation. There was a loud group in the bar section that thought they were only people there.

   We've eaten at the lobby many times. We had a lovely server but a couple of things bothered us. First of all there was a very LOUD GROUP of people in the bar right next to the dining rm The laughter, the noise was horrible and awful. We mentioned it to our server who claimed nothing can be done, but I thought perhaps the manager might have gone over and spoken to them. It think it was someone's b day? but the loudness was deafening. We could hardly hear one another nor the server when she came over. Then it was a special night (anniversary) and we ordered our food mine arrived and then my hubs. My was fairly warm but my husb's cold! So they took it away so I ate on my own to speak as the server came over to say they are redoing your dinner ! So then my hubs redo dinner came and he ate on his own! There were apologies from the server( not managment!) and we did appreciate the comp glass of Prosecco afterwards but it put a damper on the evening I must say. Other than these couple of incidents the food is always good and very plentiful but it will be awhile before we return!

   Every time we have dinner at The Lobby, we are impressed with the quality of the food both in presentation and taste. We often choose the deluxe date night menu and find it to be excellent value. The beef carpaccio is delicate and a wonderful beginning to a sumptuous meal. The pork chop is moist, flavourful and substantial. The salmon is nicely charred and complemented with an array of crisp and delicious vegetables. The Cabernet which accompanied the meal was perfect.

   The Lobby is our favourite brunch/lunch place to meet friends. It is easy to make a reservation in advance and you are allowed a generous amount of time to stay at the table. It was very quiet that day and we spent two hours enjoying the food and visiting with our friends. Usually everything is 5 stars but service this time was slow and things were forgotten and we had to ask for them (i.e. tea, spoon for stirring latte, toast accompanying two meals). It wasn't particularly busy so it isn't clear what the issue with service. The server offered a 10% discount on each bill which was appreciated. This does remain a favourite place so we will be returning and know that our next visit will likely be 5 stars all around.

   Sadly our experience was not great! The Salmon Bisque was barely luke warm and we had to send it back. Three of us had the halibut which was dry with no flavour. We have dined at The Lobby before and this is the first time we have been disappointed. Our server was fantastic - friendly, warm, patient and efficient.
