   We went to The Purple Room for the Thanksgiving Prix Fixe menu. For starters we had the Thanksgiving Salad and the Zuppa Toscana, our entrees were Risotto and the Turkey Dinner, and for dessert we had pumpkin spice cheesecake and molten lava chocolate cake. The good. The atmosphere was great and the music was wonderful. The noise level was perfect in that we could easily have conversation while really enjoying the show. We were seated behind the bar, so our view was slightly obstructed, but they have monitors above the bar. The food was hit and miss. The starters were good. The entrees were mediocre, especially the risotto. On the turkey dinner, the mashed potatoes were great, but the rest was just okay. The molten lava cake was sweet and tasty with a nice texture. But the pumpkin spice cheesecake was like a dense flavorless brick. The present tion of it was amazing, but they'll have to go back to the drawing board on that one. I'd go back for the music, but maybe not on Thanksgiving. Or I'd recommend a different dessert.

   The purple room is a wonderful treasure and such fun to attend. My only complaint is the food does not match the music. My shrimp cocktail had soggy tiny shrimp that could have been bought at Ralph’s. Steak overcooked and gristle filled. If they took up the food a notch it would be a much better experience. Again it is a gem. Just needs more polish.

   I was at the Purple Eoom on a Wednesday night. “The talent on stage was truly outstanding—each of the three singers delivered exceptional performances.” The food and the service could not have been better.

   Absolutely outstanding. We went on a weds night when it was rat pack music with the house band and guests. The music was great and the food absolutely superb, backed up with great service.

    The music was wonderful. The food…not so much. My mother in law liked her pork tenderloin, my wife felt her chicken parmigiana, while quite generous in portions, lacked a distinct flavor that would have really made it stand out, and my New York strip steak was overdone. I think I was expecting something more special considering the premium prices. My family tells me the drinks were good. We didn’t know that tables in the stage room were reserved for people that had made reservations at least three weeks prior. Good to know for the future. Would we come back? Yes, but next time we’re going to try the bar menu. That food looked delicious.
