The Society of Six was a group of innovative Northern California artists who came to prominence in the 1920s, during Prohibition. At an Oakland cabin known as the Chow House, the six closely knit painters held heated discussions about the state of the art world, fueled by home-cooked meals served with home-brewed beer and wine. The Society of Six and their passion for art, food and wine inspired us to create a new Six, an American rustic restaurant concept with traditional, unpretentious fare. The Six has a cozy, neighborhood vibe that is affordable and accessible to singles, families and business-people.

the food was terrible. The service was pretty good, we were treated nicely and served quickly. Very accommodating, however I was unhappy with the food i ordered both a steak and chicken and waffles and neither were very good. the chicken tasted like cardboard. the steak was overcooked. Overall the ambiance is nice however it is not as advertised, just slightly less fancy looking. Especially for the prices.

We ate outside at 1:00 on a saturday. There were four diners inside and the two of us outside, thus it was very quiet. The waiter was terrific as we were far away from where he needed to go to get everything to bring to us. He was upbeat and accommodating despite the fact that, by the time we left, we were the only people in the place. My friend had the heirloom tomato flatbread and like that a lot. I had the waffle and sausage sliders which were a mixed bag. The sausage was very tasty and the top waffles were solid and the proper consistency but the bottom waffles were soggy and heavy. I knew it was a dish that might not work but I was intrigued by the combination. I would not order it again although I would go back to the restaurant

I thought the fare was very well thought out with a very diverse menu that is great for all patrons. The service was spot on and attentive while the vibe in the restaurant was very pleasant . I was surprised how well crafted the food was as every dish we ordered was spot on. The desserts were out of sight as we really didn't want dessert but we licked our plates.....amazing !! The restrooms need to be updated as they don't match the beatiful decor of the restaurant and bar but hopefully in time they will give those a facelift. Overall awesome experience !!

Good atmosphere, but in a strange location. Many restaurants have not made it there. Food and service were both good. Same with the cocktails.
