   I rarely review restaurants but I must share this experience which I have never had in York City—the best! I’d made a lunch with my daughter and granddaughter before seeing thenNutcracker. On the way to the restaurant, my daughter had an accident—she bumped into a pillar at the Times Square station and broke off her 2 front teeth. Naturally, we were all upset. As soon as we arrived at the Smith, the entire staff was amazing. They seated us immediately inside, brought my daughter an ice pack and Advil, and were so comforting. Special kudos to Justin, our server , who even researched an emergency dentist. He brought us dessert and said that entire meal was on the house! As a native New Yorker, I was so surprised and touched to the bottom of my heart. Kindness still exists in this crazy world and in New York City which can get such a bad rap. The food was great. The Smith is now our go to restaurant in Lincoln Square. Thank you so much to everyone at the Smith!

   I brought my 6 and 8 year old grandkids. The children’s menu was very welcome, and they enjoyed their food and hot chocolate. My goat cheese omelet was delicious. Pancakes were good, but small portion in adult menu. Wait staff was lovely and attentive.

   We decided to pop in here after watching the Nutcracker. I made a reservation as we walked out for 30 minutes in the future... but we arrived a few minutes before and they seated us promptly. Likely because we had two kids with us, we were seated in the back, which was fine with us. You just walk through a small service area--but such is the charm of NYC. If this would bother you--be sure to specify a preference in your booking. The food was really nice. The Brussels sprouts were in my top three ever (and I love Brussels!) so don't miss these if you enjoy Brussels. We also had the house chips, which were amazing. The Cesar salad was yummy--but a bit small. The kids salmon was great--with all the skin removed. Our server was friendly and attentive. The drinks were good as well. All in all a really solid choice!

   A 40 minute wait beyond our reservation time was bit extreme. The free potato chips for the delay was an effort, though.

    I like The Smith overall but this experience was not great because of the lack of transparency not because of the service. All people I interacted with were nice. Before making the reservation I reviewed the website. There was not any information indicating that the brunch menu would be used for Black Friday; it was assumed that they would be using the normal menu since it was not a weekend. There are a good selection of gluten free items on their regular menus… very few options in brunch menu. I wouldn’t have made the reservation if it menu option information was clearly stated on the website. Since I didn’t find anything on the menu that I could or wanted to eat, we left. Again the last time I ate there everything was great.
