   Very disappointing experience, which was surprising. We were seated by a nice guy, but after that all went downhill. No waiter or waitress came to help us for over 15 minutes. We had to ask. Then, there were like 4 others who came by to help, which was a fragmented mess. Worst - I ordered meatloaf sliders, with no indication of mushrooms. But - it was covered in them!! And the staff were not near as apologetic and accommodating as you’d expect. In fact, one of the 4 waitresses said if she was on point the whole time she would’ve let me know there were mushrooms. Like - take ownership and accountability for your restaurant! Even if you weren’t the one who took the order. So, we couldn’t eat the food due to mushroom allergies. Come on true food - mushrooms is one ingredient you really need to be transparent about. This should not be a surprise. Last - it’s Christmas / holiday time and the place had almost 0 ambiance. There were beyond minimal decorations, so it didn’t feel inviting, warm or interesting. Totally could have been a boring January. They are lucky the salad was decent. There are way too many other restaurants to go to in OC. We won’t be going back any time soon.

   True food was mediocre. We had the dumpling which were good. The Mediterranean wrap and the buffalo chicken ranch salad which were okay.

   I recommended True Food Kitchen for a lunch with two other ladies. The food was delicious, the location convenient and our server was as attentive as the holiday customer traffic allowed. With that said, waiting almost an hour after placing our order to receive the simple food selection was a bit much. Although our server apologized (it is the season, after all), and the manager took time to deliver our food (with no apology), it was a let down after previous experiences.

   Usually the meals have been wonderful over the years but this time it was an epic fail. I had lunch with a girlfriend and the food was less than stellar. Had to send back the starter I had and then the pizza which was butternut squash came out with too much of the toppings and was cold. Hopefully next time they can make it a memorable and delicious lunch.

   Food portion is quite small for the price. An order of blueberry pancake is only 2 thin slices. The air fried chicken is dry and hard. Eggs (both scrambled and fried) were not salted evenly, some portions were very salty and others were not. We liked the guacamole appetizer tho.

    The music was terrible and way too loud. Food was amazing but unfortunately ruined by the loud, pop /disco music. Dinner should be a much quieter ambiance and this was the opposite. We mentioned to the shift manager and he suggested we email corporate.
