   Villaggio del Vino should consider removing the Pear Salad and Parmesan-Crusted Wood-Fired Mahi-Mahi from their menu. Both were very disappointing. I was hoping for a light and refreshing salad but was served a heavily balsamic dressed and odd tasting candied walnuts salad. I had three bites of the salad, and my main entry was served. I saved the salad for the next day, but the dressing disintegrated the spring mix, so it was not edible. The main entry was an overcooked Mahi-Mahi served with risotto. The risotto tasted like Campbell's mushroom soup. Unfortunately, I'm not a fan of mushroom soup. This meal was too expensive to not be enjoyed.

   Outstanding service and excellent food as always. Villaggio del Vino is one our favorite Tyler restaurants. I recently saw a local news article indicating this restaurant has been bought by a company that owns several other restaurants in Tyler. My experiences at those other restaurants have never been quite as consistent as the experiences we’ve had at Villaggio del Vino. I trust the new ownership will maintain the high standards we come to expect from Villaggio del Vino.

   We went for brunch. We got a great table outside. Our server was very polite and attentive. There was nothing bad about our experience there. We have eaten at Villagios several times. It is always excellent.

   I chose Villaggio del Vino because I wanted to treat my daughter to a fine dining experience, for her 18th birthday, and I was HIGHLY disappointed. From the beginning, I could feel the sense of being unwelcomed even though we were dressed very appropriately and had a reservation that was made online. They were out of…well a lot of things and it was 7 PM on a Saturday night. Just to name a few things…the bruschetta, ribeye, the Bordeaux blend wine on their menu, and a few other items. When I asked the waitress, who never announced herself or her trainee until I asked 30 mins into service, why they were out of so many things, she stated it was because they were “short staffed”…ummm…that was an odd answer to why they didn’t have things that were advertised on their menu, but ok. I also indicated that it was a birthday when I made the reservation thinking that they would do something special for it. I didn’t want anything over the top, but at least some kind of acknowledgment. There was none; even though there was a larger group that was presented a cake of some sort with a candle. That frustrated me because this was supposed to be a special occasion for a young lady entering adulthood. The food was decent and came out within a reasonable time, but certainly not fine dining. Ambiance was on par, but there seemed to be (what felt like to me) some preferential treatment to other patrons (I am African American, so let that stick in your mind). When I asked for the desert menu and reiterated to our server that it was a birthday, we were told that the crème brûlée and tiramisu were “on the house”. When the bill came, we were charged for it. I asked why it was on the bill, and she stated that they were “made in house, and not on the house”. Visibly irritated, I asked my daughter to wait for me in the car while I asked to speak to the manager. I expressed my frustrations to the manager who offered an apology, comped our meal, and gave us a gift certificate. Not a good look!

   Villagio is one of our top 2 favorite restaurants in Tyler. The service is always great…friendly, never overbearing, and always available and quick to take care of whatever we might want or need. We have enjoyed everything we have ever ordered at Villagio…cocktails, salads, appetizers, entrees, pizza, and desserts. They have a great wine selection and we always enjoy talking with and learning about various wines from the sommelier, James. Villagio has the best desserts in town; we have ordered everything on the dessert menu and it’s hard to choose our favorite…probably the Tuxedo Bomb. It’s amazing!!

   Had a wonderful experience with Zoe our waitress. She did outstanding job of walking us through the menu and making delicious recommendations. James the sommelier was top notch in wine knowledge and selecting/walking us through the new fabulous wines for us. We had a great experience , Go check them out

   This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. The food is great, adult beverages are outstanding, and the service is wonderful. The noise level is extremely loud however, hard to have a conversation. And, even though the food is fabulous, it might be time for a little refresh of the menu. I like trying new things.
