** Wild Ginger - Downtown

The food at Wild Ginger spans the Pacific Rim from China to Indonesia. We pride ourselves on offering traditional dishes from these distinctive regions and insist on house-made ingredients. Chefs make spicy chili sambals, fresh coconut milk, delicate egg noodles, and our pungent oyster sauce all from scratch. To achieve the sublime flavors of the East, there is no substitute for the time-honored customs of these rich and ancient cultures.

Food was very good but took a long time for it to come to our table. Go for a long leisurely evening.

I chose this restaurant simply because the description sounded interesting to me. We wanted to eat out for Thanksgiving and the more traditional places were either closed or closed to further reservations. There were some TG-ish options available, but we decided to go Asian for the meal. We had the Seven Elements soup (a Thai take on chicken noodle soup with a curry flavor and crunchy noodles on top) as the starter, the Green Curry Chicken, and the Assam Prawns. Everything was delicious! I was impressed that the last section of the shell had been removed from the prawn while leaving the tail in place. The restaurant sits on the corner of 3rd and Union, but the entrance is farther down 3rd Ave than I expected. Signage on the sidewalk or hanging above the sidewalk would be helpful. We found a parking lot about a half-block away; evening parking rate was $10.

Our server was so kind. And then she brought out the most amazing food. Our favorites were the soup (it was simply perfect) and the sumptuous Hong Kong prawns. This was so worth a trip to Seattle. I can’t wait to come back.

Seafood was not well prepared. Scallops had “fishy” taste and shrimp were overcooked. Not the quality that I remember from the past.

Seven flavor beef - I have been having this dish at Wild Ginger for 30 years. It doesn't taste anything like it used to before. Earlier you could taste the seven flavors. Now It has become sweeter - tastes more like bad Kalbi beef. Really disappointed. Mongolian Noodles were ok. Ginger Martini, was good - but wish they served it in a Martini glass. now they serve it in a shot glass size tumbler. Come on - you call it a martini - serve it in a martini glass. Charge more if you have to. Green beans were good as always.

Food was great. We loved the Mongolian noodles. Server was awesome. We had a bottle of wine that was on the spoiled side (which does happen), manager came with his apologies and took it off the bill. I hate when that happens and feel bad sending the bottle back. But they were gracious about this and we ordered cocktails instead. I definitely recommend Wild Ginger.

Been going to wild for i guess close to 20 yrs at this location downtown. Kicked it off with my go to of Fragrant Duck...What a disappointment. super chewy too much 5 spice not enough plum sauce. My date an di ordered the Assam Prawns and the Sea Bass Cha ca. They delivered the Assam prawns before the sea bass that my date ordered and was told ill be right back with your sea bass. So, I waited to try the Assam since my dates Cha ca was coming in a minute....15 minutes later after flagging down our waiter asking where her sea bass is he went and got it. By then the prawns were cold and chewy. While the waiter comped the sea bass the whole quality of dishes and overall experience is going to be my last there. Bummer this place used to be the bomb for me when i was going to the hall next door.
